Four admit attack on club captain

Four men have admitted assaulting the captain of Elgin City Football Club in Inverness city centre.

David Hind, 26, was attacked on Stephen's Brae during the early hours of 31 August last year.

The four are Alan Coe, 23, and Sean Henny, 18, both of Inverness, Daniel Finlay, 18, of Invergordon, and Taran Campbell, 22, of North Kessock.

Sheriff Alexander Pollock deferred sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court until next month.

The sheriff will then hear the evidence of the case and pleas in mitigation.

Coe and Campbell also admitted assaulting Mr Hind's team-mate Craig Campbell. Coe also admitting attacking one of the players' friends, Richard Downer.

A not guilty plea by a fifth accused - Rhiannon McLafferty, 18, of Inverness - was accepted.
