Sheikh's new lodge gets go-ahead

A proposal by one of the world's wealthiest men to build a 16-bedroom lodge on his estate has been approved.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum's plans for his Inverinate Estate in Lochalsh went before a Highland Council planning meeting in Portree.

The application was made by his agents Smech Management.

Planning officers had recommended refusal on design grounds. Conditions surrounding the bid have still to be decided.
