Anti-tolls veteran in prince plea

Robbie the Pict outside court

Skye bridge tolls campaigner Robbie the Pict has asked Prince Charles for help in trying to clear the names of those convicted for refusing to pay.

Charges to use the crossing were abolished in 2004.

The 61-year-old had earlier appealed to the Queen under a 300-year-old legal act to consider what he said was "a miscarriage of justice".

He has now appealed to the future monarch, warning "some of us still have claymores from Culloden".

Last year, the campaigner's challenge to the use of speed cameras was put on hold while lawyers carried out further research into the rules.

He went to the Court of Justiciary Appeal in Edinburgh after being clocked doing 85mph on the A74 in Dumfriesshire.

Robbie the Pict claimed speed cameras were illegal because they were not approved, according to the letter of the law.
