Supermarket to harvest rain water

Rain water

Tesco has submitted a detailed planning application to Highland Council for a new store in Tain.

The "eco-store" on Shore Road would have lights that can be dimmed, an energy efficient bakery and the means to harvest rain water.

Doug Wilson, corporate affairs manager at Tesco, said the shop had been designed to have a minimal impact on the local environment.

Councillors previously approved an outline application.

Scottish ministers have also recommended that the store gets the go-ahead.
