North firms urged to go for gold

Businesses are being encouraged to seek out contracts from the London Olympics and Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Oban-based Owen Sails supported the gold medal-winning British yngling team and designed and manufactured a fabric for a press area at the Beijing Games.

Glenmore Lodge, near Aviemore, has also been accredited as a training venue for London 2012.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has urged other small and medium-sized firms to also explore opportunities.
