Film star's bingo hall festival

Ballerina Ballroom

A new film festival involving Oscar-winning actor Tilda Swinton is due to open in Nairn in the Highlands.

The Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams will run from Friday until next Saturday at a former bingo hall close to the town's high street.

It has been funded by Ms Swinton, who also came up with the idea.

It will feature Scottish films alongside what is believed to be the first screening in the north of Scotland of the African film Hyenas.

The entrance to the Victoria-era venue is sandwiched between a bookshop and barbers.
