Drink-driver caught seven times

A man caught drink-driving for the seventh time has been jailed for a year and banned from driving for 10 years.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Bryan Garrick, 35, was nearly four times the drink-drive limit.

He admitted taking a van without consent from a hotel's car park in Inverness and to drink-driving. The offences were committed on Monday.

Garrick, of Caol, Fort William, also admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance.

Neil Wilson, defending, said his client had been sacked for sleeping in on the day of the offences.

Sheriff Derek Pyle admonished and dismissed Garrick for the insurance offence.
