Man charged with murdering wife

A pensioner has been charged with the murder of his 74-year-old wife in Badnaban, Lochinver, in the north west Highlands.

Edwin Brown appeared on petition at Tain Sheriff Court on the charge of murdering his wife Ann on Wednesday.

The 71-year-old made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Mr Brown, who appeared in court on Friday, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
