Woman dies after road collision

A 51-year-old woman has died in a crash in the Highlands which also left a passenger with life-threatening injuries.

Barbara Rhind, from Invergordon, died in the accident on the B817 Alness to Invergordon shore road near Dalmore Distillery at about 2150 GMT.

Four people had to be cut free by the fire brigade and were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

The accident involved a Ford Escort and Peugeot 106.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident.
