Crewman gets fishing hook in eye

A Portuguese crewman was airlifted to hospital after an accident on a fishing boat which left him with a hook stuck in his eye.

The incident took place on a Spanish fishing boat that was about 60 miles north of the Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles.

Stornoway Coastguard rescue helicopter was called out to airlift the man to hospital at about 0140 GMT.

He is being treated for the injury in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
