Trial hears of blood marks in car

Anne Brown

The trial of a woman accused of killing her mother and dumping her body in a burn has heard that blood stains were found in the dead woman's car.

Lisa Brown, 21, and her boyfriend John Wilson, 25, deny murdering Anne Brown in North Ayrshire in October.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that Mrs Brown's Ford Focus was found parked near Craignaught Farm.

Forensic scientist Marie Campbell said there were blood marks on rear seat, the car boot and the driver's door.

The Scottish Police Services Authority scientist said two "smudged" blood stains were found on the bonnet.

She also examined Mrs Brown's home in Laigh Gree, Burnhouse, Ayrshire.

Ms Campbell told the jury that she could "not rule out" that Mrs Brown, 51, was attacked within the grounds of the property.

'Bloodstained clothing'

She also noticed pieces of a fence outside which she believed had been "freshly broken".

It is claimed Lisa Brown and John Wilson struck her on the head and body with a blunt object or objects and that her daughter had previously "evinced malice and ill-will towards her".

Ms Brown and Mr Wilson are then alleged to have attempted to defeat the ends of justice by disposing of her body in the burn.

They are also accused of washing a quantity of bloodstained clothing which they wore at the time of the alleged attack.

The trial before judge Lord Matthews continues.
