Woman hit by car 'seriously' hurt

An elderly woman is being treated in hospital after being knocked down on the south side of Glasgow.

The 75-year-old was crossing Paisley Road West, near Fife Avenue, at about 1855 GMT on Tuesday when she was hit by a Peugeot car.

She was taken to the city's Southern General Hospital, where her condition is described as "serious". The car driver was uninjured.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
