Van driver dies after lorry crash

A 28 year old man has died after a crash involving three vehicles on the M74 in South Lanarkshire.

Police were called to the scene about one mile from junction 14 Crawford at about 0600 GMT on Monday.

It appeared the man's Peugeot Boxer van hit the back of a logging lorry and was then struck by a second lorry.

The van driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

The M74 southbound between J13 Abington and J14 Crawford was closed while investigations were carried out.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
