A father has admitted stabbing to death his two young sons whose bodies were found in a car in East Dunbartonshire earlier this year.
Lawyers for Ashok Kalyanjee said he did not dispute that he killed them, but his mental state must be established before he entered an appropriate plea.
Paul Ross, six, and his brother Jay, two, were discovered in a lay-by in the Campsie Fells near Lennoxtown in May.
Judge Lord Brailsford adjourned the hearing until next week.
The 46-year-old was appearing at the High Court in Glasgow for a preliminary hearing.
He is accused of repeatedly stabbing both children, pouring petrol over them and the interior of a car, before attempting to set fire to the vehicle.
Mr Kalyanjee was taken to hospital a short time after the boys' bodies were found.
He was arrested by police after being released from the hospital.
