A man has been seriously injured after being assaulted in a house in Glasgow by another man who demanded money.

The 46-year-old was in the property in the city's Craigend area when his attacker came to the door about 0130 GMT on Tuesday.

After entering the house, the man carried out the assault and demanded money before leaving empty-handed.

He is described as white, aged between 35 and 39, about 6ft tall, with a slim build and greying hair.

He was wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans when he carried out the attack.

His victim received treatment for face, neck and stomach injuries at Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is in a serious but stable condition.

Police have asked anyone with information to come forward.
