Two deaths at house 'unexplained'

The bodies of an elderly man and woman have been found at a house in East Renfrewshire.

Ambulance crews were called to the home in Aurs Road, Barrhead, at 1845 BST on Thursday after a report that a man had suffered a heart attack.

They found a 74-year-old man inside the property. His 68-year-old partner was later discovered in the garden.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said the deaths were being treated as unexplained at this stage.

They said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

The spokeswoman added: "Emergency services were called to a house in Barrhead yesterday and the bodies of a male and a female were found at the property.

"Inquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of death."
