Stab attack treated as murder bid

An early morning assault on a 21-year-old man in Glasgow is being treated as attempted murder by police.

Strathclyde Police said the victim suffered stab wounds during the attack on Easterhouse Road at about 0145 BST.

The man, who was with a female friend, was set upon by a man and woman from a group of teenagers he had spoken to.

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where is condition was described as serious but stable. His friend was uninjured but badly shaken.

Police have appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them.

The first suspect is described as about 16-years-old, 5ft 9in in height, of stocky build and wearing a dark jacket.

The female suspect was of a similar age, 4ft 10in tall, with a heavy build, long brown hair in a pony tail and wearing a baggy white sports sweater.

The group were thought to range in age between 14 and 16.

Det Con John Cochran said: "This was a vicious and unprovoked attack on the 21-year-old man.

"Inquiries are at an early stage and we will be viewing CCTV to try and establish the circumstance surrounding the attack."
