Police reveal huge drugs seizure

Drugs worth more than a million pounds have been seized by police in a raid on a property in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire.

Officers made the £1.25m haul at about 1940 BST on Wednesday. They recovered 50kg of cannabis resin, 13kg of heroin and a kilo of cocaine.

Drugs were also recovered at an address in Glasgow as part of the same operation.

A 48-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man have been arrested and detained in custody.

The seizures were part of a joint operation between Strathclyde Police and the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency.

Police said the drugs seized in Glasgow included a small amount of amphetamine, herbal cannabis and diazepam tablets. A four-figure sum of cash was also recovered.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
