Theft pair fined over CCTV bungle

Two men have been ordered to pay their former employer £2,500 compensation after bungling a theft of aluminium.

Michael Shehan, 38, and 29-year-old Alan Reid, both from Paisley, pleaded guilty to stealing 880kg of metal.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard how they placed a rag over a CCTV camera lense at Tercett Precision to prevent bosses from seeing what they were doing.

Police traced the pair after Shehan went back to remove the cloth and was caught on camera.
