A 23-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash involving a stolen car.
The man was driving the stolen Toyota Celica in Greenock at about 0410 BST on Saturday when he appears to have lost control of the car, which hit a wall.
The collision happened at the junction of Baker Street and Drumfocher Street.
The man was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital before being transferred to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow.
There were no other occupants in the car.
A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said the vehicle, which had been stolen a short time earlier from the Gourock area, was being followed at a safe distance by a marked police car before the crash.
The police car had its emergency blue lights and siren in operation.
