Fresh appeal over fatal shooting

George Redmond

Police investigating the murder of George Redmond have renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The 42-year-old was shot at about 2225 BST on Monday as he was leaving the Waldorf pub in Glasgow. He died a short time later in hospital.

John Maguire, 42, was also shot and remains in hospital.

Detectives are keen to speak to those who were drinking in the bar that day or night and people who were walking in Cambridge Street at the time.

Det Supt John Riggans, of Strathclyde Police, said: "I know there were a number of patrons within the Waldorf bar on Monday night at the time of the shooting and we need to speak to them urgently.

"I would also urge anyone who was in the bar that night or during the course of that day to come forward as they may also be able to assist with our enquiries."

He added that police were particularly keen to speak to a man seen near Cowcaddens Road who is described as having dark receding hair and was wearing a blue jacket and trousers.

"This man may be a potential witness to the shooting and I would be grateful if he would get in touch," Det Supt Riggans said.

A dedicated e-mail address, GeorgeRedmondInquiry@strathclyde.pnn.police.uk, has been set up for anyone wishing to pass on information to officers.
