Conference boost before Olympics

A major conference to promote advances in sports medicine and science will be held in Glasgow on the eve of the London 2012 Olympics.

About 3,000-delegates are expected at the Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport at the SECC from 19 to 27 July.

The event was secured for Glasgow by a bid team comprising five universities - including Strathclyde.

It is hoped the convention will boost the city's economy by more than £5m.
