Gas problem halts city cremations

Services have been cancelled at a Glasgow crematorium following problems with the gas supply.

A spokesman for Craigton Crematorium said Scotland Gas Network was working round-the-clock in a bid to get the cremators working again.

Bereaved families, who were due to attend services at the Co-operative-run facility in Cardonald, have been told about the on-going problems.

Alternative arrangements have been made to hold services at other crematoria.

A spokeswoman said it was hoped the crematorium would be fully operational by Wednesday.
