A 47-year-old woman has been seriously injured in a shooting in Glasgow, Strathclyde Police have revealed.
She was found with a gunshot wound in an office building on New City Road, Garnethill, at about 1440 BST on Wednesday.
Officers have issued a description of a man they want to speak to. He is white, in his 40s, with red stubble and a Scottish accent.
They are treating the incident as attempted murder.
Police said they believed the woman, who was working as a financial adviser, was the intended victim.
Andrew Tagg, 24, works at a fishmongers in the area and was asked to help by paramedics.
"I thought that maybe she had taken a heart attack or was diabetic"
He said that when he went into a back office of the building he saw a woman "sprawled out on a chair".
"I didn't know there was anything particularly wrong with her to start with," he said.
"I thought that maybe she had taken a heart attack or was diabetic.
"Her eyes were closed, her face was slicked in sweat and she looked dishevelled."
Mr Tagg said he was asked to clear the area to allow easier access for paramedics.
"I was told subsequently that the woman was covered in blood when she was wheeled out," he said.
"There were police officers combing the area looking for what, I presume, was weapons.
"They had latex gloves on and were searching down drains and in bushes."
The attack happened in what is considered to be Glasgow's Chinatown area.
Mr Tagg said the woman who had been shot was of white, European appearance.
Det Insp John Mellon, the officer in charge of the investigation, said: "I would urge anyone who may have seen a person or persons acting suspiciously in New City Road around the time of the incident to come forward.
"The surrounding area would have been busy with both pedestrians and motorists and we are keen to speak to anyone who may be able to assist us with our enquiry.
"I would ask any witnesses or anyone who thinks they may have information regarding this incident to contact police or Crimestoppers."
