Scots scientists have developed new eye-testing technology which they hope can pick up problems earlier than conventional tests.
The equipment uses tiny electrodes to test the health of the back of the eye.
It was developed by medical scientists at Glasgow's Gartnavel Eye Hospital, which they hope will become standard.
They hope a version of the invention could be used in opticians and are working with the NHS to market the device in the United States.
Many people do not realise they have vision problems, because their brain compensates for parts of the eye that are not working.
But the new kit allows specialists to see exactly which parts of the retina are responding to stimulus.
