Man arrested over driver's death

Mark Fitzsimmons A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of taxi driver Mark Fitzsimmons in Greenock on Tuesday night, police have said.

Mr Fitzsimmons was found seriously injured after officers received reports of a disturbance.

The discovery was made at Hole Farm Road at about 2115 GMT on Tuesday. He was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital but died a short time later.

The man is expected to appear in the town's Sheriff Court on Monday.
