Glasgow TB cluster investigated

Tuberculosis A cluster of tuberculosis (TB) among three women and a man is under investigation in Glasgow.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said all four people knew each other, were being treated at home and were expected to recover fully.

Contacts of the four cases are being screened by public health experts.

Two of the those affected work at the St Enoch Hotel and staff there are being screened as the investigation into the cluster continues.

Dr Oliver Blatchford, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's consultant in public health medicine, said: "Our investigations so far have found no evidence that other staff and clients from the hotel are affected.

"It is important to stress that there is no risk to the general public, including guests of the St Enoch Hotel."

TB is an infection caused by a germ, which usually affects the lungs but can also develop in other parts of the body, such as the kidney or glands.
