City bridges fail standards test

George Square Drivers may face traffic chaos after 69 road bridges in Glasgow failed to meet European standards.

A new report revealed it could cost Glasgow City Council about £100m to carry out the necessary repairs.

Commuters could be hit by major traffic problems, with weight restrictions and diversions imposed on almost a third of the city's bridges.

The latest study by Audit Scotland showed Glasgow almost bottom of a league table of the nation's bridges.
