A housing association is to upgrade all of its communal television aerials to ensure tenants are not left in the dark after the switch to digital.
North Glasgow Housing Association is to spend £550,000 upgrading 200 aerials in the Springburn and Possilpark areas.
The move comes after warnings that thousands of tenants across the UK could lose their TV signal when analogue services are turned off.
The digital switch is due to begin next year, and will be completed by 2012.
About 20% of UK homes currently receive signals through communal aerials, which must be upgraded to ensure residents have access to digital broadcasts.
"It is vitally important that all tenants and residents are given the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits digital television offers"
However, it is estimated only 25% of properties have been brought up to standard.
The upgrade by the housing association means that all of its properties would be digital TV ready within the next six months.
Chief executive Robert Tamburrini said: "It is vitally important that all tenants and residents are given the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits digital television offers.
"Work will start in the coming weeks to upgrade our communal aerials ahead of the planned switchover in Glasgow in 2010.
"The work should take around six months across all our homes and we will work closely with our contractors to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum during the project."
Mr Tamburrini added that the association was also taking steps to ensure that all new homes it was building included aerials with full access to digital television.
The work is starting in the Carron area of Springburn and will be rolled out across all properties served by communal aerials.
