OAP targeted in east end robbery

CCTV footage: courtesy Strathclyde Police Police have issued CCTV pictures of a man who stole a 93-year-old woman's purse in Glasgow's east end.

The woman was robbed in Orr Street, near the city's Gallowgate area, on Monday 2 July.

CCTV images taken from premises in Orr Street showed a man talking to two other people in an old-style blue Nissan Micra car before the incident.

The man grabbed her around the chest and stole her purse which contained a three figure sum of cash.

Police said that the victim, although uninjured, was extremely distraught. Despite extensive enquiries, the police have not yet found the man.

The man is described as being aged between 40 and 45, about 5ft 4in to 5ft 7in tall with a heavy build, dark hair and sallow skin.

He was last seen wearing dark trousers and a dark jacket and is described as having an Eastern European accent.

Police would also like to speak to the occupants of the car.
