Church's odd job man in hospital

Angelika Kluk A man who detectives want to speak to after the death of a Polish student in Glasgow has been taken into hospital.

Angelika Kluk's body was found on Friday, concealed within St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Anderston.

Peter Tobin, 60, who worked as an odd job man at the church, was arrested by Metropolitan Police in London on an unrelated matter on Saturday.

Strathclyde officers had travelled to London but will now interview Mr Tobin when he is fit to return to Glasgow.

'Open investigation'

Det Supt David Swindle said: "Due to a medical condition, Mr Tobin is presently detained in a hospital in London and it is unclear when he will be fit to travel.

"It will be a decision for the medical staff to determine when he can be released.

"We will be speaking to Mr Tobin when he is returned to Glasgow."

He added: "I have to again stress that this is very much an open investigation and we will be pursuing all lines of enquiry."

Det Supt Swindle praised the public's response to appeals for information.

Ms Kluk, 23, was reported missing on Monday 25 September.

A murder inquiry was launched on Sunday after a post-mortem examination.

She had been on a working holiday in Glasgow and was due to return to Poland on Monday.

Police have set up an e-mail address for information - AngelikaKlukEnquiry@strathclyde.pnn.police.uk.
