Police chase river jump man found

Police van A man who jumped into a river after a police chase has been found after a massive search - in a house in Paisley.

The man, aged 24, was in a tipper truck with another man, aged 30, which failed to stop for officers in the town at about 0220 BST on Thursday.

Police followed the truck 25 miles to Irvine, Ayrshire, where the men abandoned it and jumped into a river.

The 30-year-old was rescued and arrested. The 24-year-old man was traced back to Paisley and arrested.

A team of 10 coastguards and police officers took part in the search.

He is expected to appear at Renfrew District Court on Friday.

The 30-year-old man is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court.
