Dozens of fire-fighters have been battling a massive blaze at a miners' club in Edinburgh.

The building collapsed in places as 33 officers worked to put out the fire at a club in Whitehill Street in the capital's Newcraighall area.

They had been called to the scene at 2247 BST on Wednesday where they fought the flames all night.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue staff said the building was "severely damaged" and may have to be demolished.

Lothian and Borders Police said they closed the nearby Newhailes Estate roundabout at 2310 BST.

The cause of the blaze is still being investigated.
