A man is recovering after being racially attacked with baseball bats and golf clubs by a group of youths.
The 21-year-old had been sitting with friends outside a flat in East Pilton Farm Avenue, Edinburgh, when they were approached by a man with a dog.
He began making racially abusive comments before returning with a group of friends who attacked one of the men, who were of Asian origin.
Their victim suffered back injuries in the assault on Monday night.
The attackers then smashed windows as the men retreated back inside the ground-floor flat.
A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said the attack happened at about 2300 BST.
He said: "The force treats all race-related crime extremely seriously, and we encourage victims to report any such incidents to the police as soon as possible."
The spokesman appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact police.
