OAP badly hurt in road accident

Police

An OAP is being treated in hospital for serious head injuries after she was knocked down as she crossed a road in Edinburgh.

The 72-year-old woman was hit at about 1630 GMT on Wednesday on Drum Brae North by a Grey VW Golf, which was travelling South from Queensferry Road.

The road was closed for about two hours for a full police investigation.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokeswoman said: "This has been a very serious collision."

She added: "We are asking for anyone who was in the area of Drum Brae South on Wednesday afternoon and saw the incident to contact police to help with our enquiries."
