Firefighters in Edinburgh had to carry out two dramatic pet rescues within the space of just three hours.
The dog and cat both became trapped on ledges in separate incidents.
In the first, at 0950 BST, 15-year-old rescue dog "Gypsy" had fallen down an embankment, coming to rest on a ledge at Spylaw Park, Ridge Road.
Then, at 1230 BST, firefighters used an immersion suit and an inflatable path to rescue a cat trapped under a walkway at Rennies Isle off Ocean Drive.
In the first case, firefighters lowered themselves 20ft down to the dog and managed to pull the animal to safety.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said: "Gypsy had fallen down an embankment and was resting on a ledge approximately 20ft below the path.
"Firefighters had to use lines and a harness for crew safety. They managed to secure a rescue line to the dog and the dog was then lifted to safety and returned to its grateful owner."
The dog was said to be in a good condition, despite being a little frightened.
The cat was said to be fine and was being cared for by a local resident until it could be reunited with its owner.
