Death of baby girl 'unexplained'

A baby girl, thought to be aged about one week old, has been found dead at a property in West Lothian.

The girl was discovered in the Bathgate area at 0930 BST on Saturday. Officers investigating the case said her death did not appear to be violent.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokeswoman said an investigation had begun and the baby's death was "being treated as unexplained".

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.
