A suspected radioactive leak at a university in Edinburgh has been declared a false alarm.
Fire crews were called to Heriot Watt University's Riccarton campus at 1435 BST, following a call about smoke coming from the plant room.
An inspection found an alarm had been triggered when an exhaust pipe fell, emitting some vapours.
The university said no radioactive sources were affected and the area has now been declared safe.
Two fire personnel wearing breathing apparatus inspected the area and brought the situation under control.
A spokeswoman for the university said: "The exhaust contains small particles of oil which activated the alarm system."
She said the exhaust was not radioactive and that students and staff had been evacuated from the building as a precautionary measure.
