Pets saved from smoke-filled home

Four dogs and a cat have been rescued from a smoke-filled home after an Edinburgh family went out, leaving a pan of food on their cooker.

The animals were saved from intense smoke at the home in Gilmerton Dykes Crescent by firefighters in oxygen masks.

The fire broke out at 2023 BST on Sunday. At least 15 firefighters attended the fire.

The house filled with smoke as internal doors had been left open for the pets.
