Nationwide search for missing OAP

Mary Ferns

A police hunt for an elderly woman who has been missing for over a week from her West Lothian home has gone nationwide.

Mary Ferns, 88, has not been seen since 0930 BST on 17 June when she left her house in the Howden area of Livingston.

Lothian and Borders Police has now requested the help of all Scottish police forces as well as hospitals across the country.

It follows a reconstruction on Tuesday of her last known movements.

She was in possession of a distinctive blue walking stick with a pink floral design when she went missing.

Searches using dogs have been carried out along with a search of the River Almond. Checks of hospitals, hotels and CCTV footage in the area have also been made.

Mrs Ferns is deaf and partially blind. She is white, 5ft 3in tall, of slim build, with short, grey hair and green eyes.

She was last seen wearing a brown three-quarter-length jacket, a brown skirt and brown shoes.
