Woman held over footpath stabbing

A woman has been arrested in connection with an assault on another woman in Edinburgh last month.

A 36-year-old woman suffered stab wounds to the stomach in an incident on 29 April on a footpath in the Dreghorn area of the city.

A 27-year-old woman is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

Police, who had issued an e-fit, thanked the public for their response. They said the victim was recovering.

Det Sgt Alistair Hutchens added: "It's due to the public's assistance that we can bring this to court.

"This sends out a clear message that both the police and the community can work together and are not prepared to accept such violence amongst us."
