Richter art exhibition announced

Abstraktes Bild 1994 by Gerhard Richter

Acclaimed German artist Gerhard Richter is to feature in a major exhibition in Edinburgh in November, it has been announced.

The exhibition will be held at the National Galleries of Scotland.

It will feature more than 60 large-scale works by Richter, including several from his own private collection.

National Galleries director general John Leighton said Richter was one of the most important artists alive today.

The exhibition will present the whole range of Richter's work, from photorealistic paintings to large-scale abstracts. The artist's paintings regularly sell for several million dollars.

It will be the second instalment in the Bank of Scotland totalART series, which featured an exhibition by Andy Warhol last year.
