A three-car accident on the A91 in Fife has claimed the lives of two young men.
The crash happened between Guardbridge and St Andrews at about 2200 GMT on Tuesday.
Police said Duncan Beaton and Robert Jamieson, both 18, died following the crash. A woman driver was seriously injured and another motorist hurt.
The young men were both occupants of a Renault Clio which was in collision with a Renault Megane travelling in the opposite direction.
A Fife Constabulary spokesman said a third vehicle, also travelling west, then collided with the wreckage.
Mr Beaton, from the Forfar area, and Mr Jamieson, from the Kilmarnock area, were both students at Elmwood College, Cupar.
The middle-aged woman driving the Megane was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with injuries described as serious, though not life-threatening.
A man driving the third vehicle was also slightly injured and was taken to the same hospital.
