Man's 13-hour flat barricade ends

Police at scene of siege (Pic: By John Easton) A man who barricaded himself in an Edinburgh flat has been detained for questioning following a 13-hour stand-off with police.

The 40-year-old man was removed by police from the flat in Meadowbank's Sunnybank Terrace and taken to a local station at about 1140 GMT.

A 27-year-old woman, who was also in the flat, was released an hour before police entered.

The incident began at about 2230 GMT on Wednesday.
