Murder accused appears in court

Medwin House North [Pic: John Easton] A 43-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Michael Gardner in Edinburgh last Tuesday.

Mr Gardner's body was found in the stairwell of a tower block in the Calder Park area of the city.

Craig Bathgate appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, where he was also charged with three road traffic offences.

Mr Bathgate denied all the charges against him and was remanded in custody.

Three other people have also been arrested in connection with the death of 33-year-old Mr Gardner, from Clovenstone Drive in Edinburgh.
