Police recover £100,000 of heroin

Heroin package Heroin worth £100,000 has been seized by Fife Constabulary following an operation in the Ballingry area.

The drugs were recovered from a car at about 1530 BST on Tuesday.

A 57-year-old Lochgelly man and 37-year-old man from Methil were due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday in connection with the find.

Supt John Myles, the force's head of drugs crime management, said almost £400,000 of drugs had been seized in Fife since April.

The force recorded record drug seizures of £2.5mi last year.

Supt Myles said: "I am delighted that yet more class A drugs have been taken off the streets.

"We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever and whenever it is taking place and urge the public to keep supplying us with information on this so that we can seize even more drugs in 2007."
