Man killed after city house fire

A man has died and a woman has been injured in a house fire.

The blaze broke out at a house in Bellevue Road, Edinburgh, at about 0445 BST.

Firefighters from Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue were called but the man, who has not been named, died at the scene.

A police spokesman confirmed that the woman, who has also not been named, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The spokesman said her injuries are not life threatening and added that the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
