Clothing retailer Primark has launched an investigation after a woman claimed a pair of its pants triggered a severe allergic reaction.
Nurse Kim Walker said she became ill while working at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Primark has withdrawn a line of control pants from sale pending testing.
A spokesman said: "Our precautionary measure to withdraw the item from sale is the right proportionality of reaction."
Ms Walker said she bought the support pants at a shop in Greenock.
The company said all its products go through a rigorous testing procedure before they go on sale.
The spokesman added: "It has not been established that this was an anaphylactic shock, or what caused it."
Anaphylactic shock is an extreme allergic reaction.
Primark warned that if an allergen was involved then testing could take some time, but that if a link were later established it would contact the Anaphylaxis Society.
