SNP re-ignites Scottish Six idea
The SNP has written to the BBC's director general Mark Thompson calling, for a "Scottish Six" news service.
The letter from Pete Wishart MP re-ignites a long-running campaign for a separate Scottish-produced national and international news bulletin.
BBC Scotland decided in December 2003 to drop the idea following a series of public meetings and a poll.
On Wednesday the corporation said that any correspondence to Mr Thompson would be responded to in due course.
Mr Wishart urged the BBC to reconsider the idea, arguing that the new "political culture" since the Scottish elections was not being properly reflected in main London-based news bulletins.
