Skye blaze victim named by police

Alexandra Schwenger A woman killed in a fire at an hostel on Skye has been named by police as German student Alexandra Schwenger.

Miss Schwenger, 23, was a second year biology student at Aberdeen School of Medicine.

She was on a touring holiday with family and friends when she died in the fire at a house in Muese Lane, Kyleakin, on Sunday.

Northern Constabulary is investigating the blaze which also left four people requiring hospital treatment.

Police said they would like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of this address between midnight on 15 April and when the alarm was raised at 0400 BST on 16 April.

The house, Bellevue, is directly in front of a boatyard owned by RJG Fabricators in Kyleakin.
